Personalized Learning in a Positive Environment
Your child is special. That’s why we focus on giving all of our students special treatment and personalized attention. We encourage our pupils to have fun while they learn. In the process, we nurture independence and self-esteem for each child. You’ll find that all of our teachers are dedicated to creating an enjoyable academic experience. Our classrooms are bright, open, and cheerful, as well as equipped with the necessary resources to facilitate a positive learning environment. Some of the subjects we teach include:
The class uses a fun learning method, Jolly Phonics®. It ensures a thorough foundation for reading and writing. Letter sounds are taught in an entertaining way by incorporating music and hand motions for a multisensory approach. In the process, your child practices fine motor skills, penmanship, proper pencil grasp, and writing simple sentences.
We will flex our creative muscles during the Storytellers class by focusing on comprehension, sequencing and the different parts of a story. From making up our own stories to new takes on the classics, we will hone our storytelling skills. Art & writing, along with occasional cooking and drama, will be featured in this fun way to start off the week. We may have a budding author or illustrator in our midst.
Proper communication is so important for children as well as adults. By teaching language arts, we help your child speak, listen, and communicate in a healthy manner. We will focus on Jolly Phonics® and Real Script® to develop language arts skills. A strong foundation in language arts promotes academic success in other subjects. We provide developmentally appropriate multisensory tools and strategies for students to improve their fine motor skills.
Math is hands-on at our school. We employ Unifix Cubes® that use manipulatives and lessons to enhance a child’s skills for numbers and quantity. This system also uses understandable strategies to help your child solve math problems. We provide Magnatiles® as a foundation for geometry (shapes), and use a variety of items to measure, graph, and quantify items. Near the end of the year, we use what your child has learned to teach money concepts.
Social Sciences & Geography
We make learning fun by using board games and card games to teach geography and social sciences. For instance, 6 Pillars of Character Counts® is a game that focuses on the development of ethical values, such as: caring, fairness, respect, trustworthiness, responsibility, and citizenship. Your child learns to apply these values in the family, neighborhood, community, and the world around them.
Our students get excited about science! We concentrate on several components of the scientific method. All six of these components—observation, classification, experimentation, predicting, communicating ideas, and drawing conclusions— set a solid foundation for science and problem-solving.
